For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11 NIV)
Breaking Free Indeed exists to help point God’s people back to Him in order to see them set free from the different chains and bondage that so often hold them from reaching their full potential in the Lord.
We talk a lot about having freedom, but freedom isn’t something you can just work yourself up to having. There is a very important foundation that all of this is built upon. That foundation is Jesus Christ.
Maybe you’re out there today and you don’t know Him, if this is true then you are stuck in the biggest chain out there — sin, or, separation from God. Sin is a disease that everyone has, and it enslaves us.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
(Romans 3:23 NIV)
“Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.'”
(John 8:34 NIV)
The Devil is as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8), and he would love nothing better than to keep you separated from God and cause you to suffer in hell — the punishment for your sin. (Romans 6:23)
But Jesus is stronger, and He has overcome. He has made a way for reconciliation with God, and He has given us the gift of eternal life. He paid the ultimate price for sin – death on the cross – all for you. He loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and He wants nothing more than to be with you. The only thing that keeps you from Him is the sin in your heart.
Right now, you can be free from that sin though, and be covered by the blood of Jesus. All that you must do is pray – talk to God, admit that you are a sinner, believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins, and rose on the third day victorious, conquering sin and Satan forever. If you pray that and mean it, then you are born again according to God’s word, and your sins past, present, and future are covered by the blood of Jesus. You are a new creation in Jesus and forever free from the power of sin over you.
“For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin” (Romans 6:6 NIV)
“But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:22,23 NIV)
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV)
